Stoneware Casseroles and Pie Plates
These are our favorites! We couldn't live without our stoneware casserole dishes and deep dish pie plates. Just mix your meal, put it in the casserole or deep dish pie plate and put it in the cold oven. Bring it up to temperature and let it bake. It may take a little longer to finish cooking, but it will stay hot much longer too. (If you are putting hot food in the dish, you can use a hot oven as well. Remember the rule of thumb when baking with stoneware is: hot food/hot oven - cold food/cold oven.)
As far as the stoneware deep dish pie plate goes, if you are planning to use it to bake pies in, our recommendation is to purchase an unglazed dish. We would be more than happy to put a little color (your choice) on the rim and a little glaze, but on the rim only! It bakes a terrific pie crust. In the case of a recipe such as your favorite spaghetti or pasta dish or our favorite Spaghetti Cheese Pie, we like it glazed best for easy clean up. The choice, as always, is yours.
